Rabindranath Tagore Secondary School (RTSS) is led by Mr Mahend Gungapersad as the Rector and Mrs Kavita Bhuckory as the Deputy Rector. The school was initially a State Secondary School under the Ministry of Education, but it is now managed by the MGI/RTI Council. The first intake of pupils occurred in January 2002, and they were recruited by the Ministry of Education. These pupils come from various regions of Mauritius and were ranked between 1200 and 4500 in the CPE exams. Currently, RTSS has a school population of 810 pupils, with 70 full-time teachers, 5 Music and Dance teachers, 3 Administrative Staff, and 18 non-teaching staff members. The school focuses on providing quality education to its students and has implemented various initiatives to achieve this. These include remedial classes, class libraries, access to pedagogical facilities, and exam reports to improve teaching and learning. RTSS actively participates in extra-curricular activities such as athletics, swimming, drama competitions, and more.
